We love interviewing and learning more about the designers and small businesses that feature in our boxes each month, this month we turned the tables and answered the same questions too.
What inspired you to set up Rainbow Box Club?
It all started when I received a box of lovely gifts all wrapped up and sent to me from a friend. It was the first time in a long time I had received something through my letter box that had made me smile. I realised that all I ever receive in the post are letters, bills or junk.
Then I had a light bulb moment, wouldn't it be wonderful, I thought, to have that experience of a surprise parcel again but also to create the same thing for others; that is when the idea for Rainbow Box Club was born.
How did you come up with your brand name?
I love rainbows, they are colourful and bright and bring so much joy; from children to adults who doesn’t love a rainbow. When I received my gift from my friend I tried to think back to how it made me felt. I was going through a bad time and it made me think of the quote ‘Be a Rainbow in Someone Else’s Cloud.’ I hope that our boxes bring happiness to our subscribers like a rainbow after a storm.
Where do you work from?
I have converted one of my rooms into an office and workspace, it works out great I have a online manager and two temporary helpers each month to help us pack.
Where do you find inspiration for your work?
Everywhere and anywhere. I like basing my themes around what is in that season and then brainstorm, we plan a whole year of boxes. As we like to include items from small businesses we like to connect with people over folksy and etsy.
What is your studio playlist?
When we are in the office we usually like to play 90’s pop. Anything that’s happy that we can sing along too.
What is your favourite social media platform?
I love instagram as it is so visual and so easy to connect with subscribers.
What are your plans for the future of your brand?
I plan to expand my shop so as well as the monthly subscription box you will be able to pick and choose items to make your own customisable box. We are planning to add more content on our website to include videos too.
And finally can you give us 3 of your essential or favourite items on your desk.
A cup of coffee, my bullet journal and my candle.
